Timecatcher for BlackBerry
What does it do?

Catch time spent on customer work while on the go

When you're jumping from one task to the next, it's hard to track all the work you're doing for your customers. Entering time into a timesheet at the end of the day or week can become a pain, especially when you know you're forgetting something.

TimeCatcher helps you track time quickly and accurately. With just a few clicks, you can add time to your timesheet. TimeCatcher will automatically track time you spend with customers on the phone. With accurate time capture, you'll save yourself from the headache of having to do your timesheet later.

TimeCatcher Features

  • Enter time after completing work
  • Start a timer when you begin working
  • Automatically track time on customer calls
  • Convert meetings and appointments to time entries
  • Export your timesheet as a csv attachment

Note: TimeCatcher does not currently integrate seamlessly with QuickBooks or QB Time Tracker.

Works with most BlackBerrys

TimeCatcher works on BlackBerry models that have a trackball and OS 4.2 and above:

Pearl
Curve
8800 Series
Bold

Will you develop a similar app for Palm Treo?

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

I am using a blackberry curve 8320. I downloaded the timecatcher for blackberry app. The app shows up on my blackberry screen. When I click it I get an error "Application Terminated: Timecatcher has been denied the "PIM" permission.

Thanks for helping me out.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

I've been trying and trying but I do not seem able to download this app to my Blackberry Tour. Is the Tour supported?

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

I have the new Verizon Droid phone and am using this app, which is fantastic for my business. I've been reading the other posts, am I reading them correctly that there is currently no import feature into QB from the downloaded .csv file?

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Thanks Andrea, I'm glad you're finding the app useful! To address your question, you are correct, there is currently no such import feature in QuickBooks. For now users need to manually import the time by opening up the CSV in a program like Microsoft Office Excel and copying the information over. However, we are currently working on ways to automatically export time caught using the app into time & billing solutions (QuickBooks included).

Note: This is the TimeCatcher for Blackberry forum. There is one specifically for the Android app here: http://intuitlabs.com/experiments/timecatcher-for-android

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

I am using this app on my new Droid and would love for this to integrate with QB's. I am a proadvisor and this app is very handy, except that I use my phone to create my billings and there is no way of easily know if the time was billed already or not.

Currently I am selecting each time slot and unclicking billable but to see that I have to go into each saved time. Also, the date does not export to the csv which means I have to go back to my phone to find the info.

Still love the app but please update it with these little features. Thanks!

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

I can't download Time Catcher... When it states select subscription the field is blank. I have emailed the help person on multiple occassions and no one seems to want to help... Very disapointing.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Hi Jason,

I got your email, and we're working to fix it. We didn't realize that we had set the subscription page to expire on Dec 31 (yikes!), so we're updating that. We're also updating the application a bit, so before we have the new subscription page up, we're making sure the new app works across BlackBerry devices. Stay tuned, we'll announce to the forum when it's ready.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

I would love to try this program out but getting it registered is impossible. I have been trying for months and no solution.

The sad thing is the the registration has nothing to do with the operation of the application. It is like getting a car to test drive and the dealer can not find the keys. Keeps telling you to wait, that they are here some place...
tick...tick...tick

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

John, sorry we've been slow to get you going with your registration issue. I've red flagged your issue with my dev team.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

I have been using the app for a few days and it is really intuitive and is helping me capture a lot of lost time. A few things I would like to see in future builds are:
The ability to delete or archive a time sheet you have already emailed.
The ability to store the email address you want the time sheet emailed to when you export.
An import feature for customers from QB, CSV or other.
Great app! Keep up the good work!

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Thanks for the feedback! I'd love to hear more about how you use timecatcher. When you have a minute, ping me at timecatcher@intuit.com.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

So, I can not connect to activate the program. After all these months, telephone conversations and emails you have not resolved the issue. Or is it on the bottom of the pile?

Dissappointing!

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Hi John, sorry to hear about the ongoing issue. I'll get your email from the site admin and have you work with our technical lead to resolve the problem.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

I have the original version. I consulted with you and your cronies a few months back(im the PI shhhhh). I loaded the timecatcher and it crashed my storm. Im still looking obviously. Timetracker is just too slow and tedious.

Tom

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Tom you have not been forgotten. Today at lunch I brought up a point you made last time we chatted about seeing the time you've tracked on a current project against a retainer you set with the client. We are making progress with our time tracking thinking, but I'm sorry to say I can't promise anything on Storm at the moment.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Thanks, thats good to hear. Most people do what they can to forget me LOL. Do you expect to have a Storm Version in the next year? If so, will it have direct integration with QB?

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

I can't download the app. The site keeps telling me I do not have permission. When I click the info box, an email is sent saying my billing manager needs to Ok this. I am the owner and sole employee of my company.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Hi Kenny,

Would you send us a description of the steps you're taking to timecatcher@intuit.com? We'll help you troubleshoot. Thanks.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

I have sent you an email with the info you requested

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

A java version could be developed to work on iPhone and Android (Android's my preference).

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Hi Herb,

A few of us have been working on iPhone and Android versions, and both are pretty close to release.

We submitted the Android version to the ADC2 last month. If you'd like to try it out, send me an email at jason_fletchall@intuit.com.

Thanks!
Jason

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

I downloaded the app to my blackberry but the app is noto accepting my intuit log in ID and password - how do I resolve this?

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

I downloaded the time catcher app to my blackberry but it's not accepting my user name and password and says they're both invalid. help!

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Hi, you're not the first to have this problem. Would you email me at timecatcher(at)intuit(dot)com so we can get on the phone and get to the bottom of this?

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Still need help loging in to timecatcher. I get the invalid msg. I can log in to the work site on the web.
Please help!

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Have downloaded and installed TimeCatcher on Blackberry curve but I can not login. I can log in to the web site with my id and pw but not through TimeCatcher

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

John, email me at timecatcher(at)intuit(dot)com, and I'll work with you to resolve your login issue.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

We use a service called TimeclockOnline.com which exports directly to QuickBooks.... You should look into that.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Joel, thanks for the heads. It looks like a convenient web timesheet service. Do you use the mobile version?

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Will TC work with my Blackberry Storm? Im currently using TimeTracker from intuit. Will this work with TimeTracker?

Tom

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Hi Tom,

Good questions -- and unfortunately we're not quite up to speed with you yet. Currently TimeCatcher works on the BlackBerrys that use a trackball, but it's not optimized for the Storm's touchscreen.
We're looking at integrations with time tracking systems, and TimeTracker would seem natural. It's not currently seamlessly integrated, so it would be interesting for us to know if capturing time in a BlackBerry and exporting it via spreadsheet is a "good enough" solution for the time being.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Hey Tommy,

Actually, Im using the outlook timetracker right now which requires a subscription to the QB online timesheets. What I really want is one that will sync directly to QB. Entering the time manually is just to time consuming and leads to potential errors. I need something that will sync pulldowns with qb for both time and expenses. Timetracker does not currently allow expenses. To date, I have not found an application that will do the above for Blackberry.

Thanks for the fast reply.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

It's very helpful to hear precisely what you're trying to accomplish, so thanks for elaborating. We're looking at a way to get time entries that you automatically capture with your BlackBerry to go straight into QuickBooks -- does this sound like it fits your need?

Since we're getting into some of our pre-production thinking, let's keep this convo going via email -- I'm at timecatcherATintuitDOTcom (with the @ and . punctuation).

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Tommy

Any news on a possible bb storm version?

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Hi Tom,

We currently don't have a Storm version because its touchscreen interactions are slightly different than the pearl's. We're continually looking to improve TimeCatcher, and I can already imagine ways for a touchscreen to make time capture quicker and simpler.

Which model of the Storm do you have?

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Can't start the application because username or pass word is not valid??
How can I fix this problem??

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Hi Hans -- login can be tricky, especially on the tiny blackberry keypad. As a rule of thumb, check that Caps or Alt aren't mistakenly clicked.

Your TimeCatcher login/password is the same Intuit Account that you use for http://workplace.intuit.com. If you need a reminder or reset, try going through the links on the Sign In page at that site.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Can't install the app using my gmail. The download link gets stripped. Can you provide a direct download link or the ability to SMS to my BB directly?

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

Hi Jose, thanks for the heads up about the gmail issue. I haven't seen it before, but we can work around it for now. Send me an email at timecatcher@intuit.com, and once we resolve the issue we'll post it back here.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

I was able to copy the shortcut out of the desktop email and then text it to the phone. Turned out to be a reasonable work-around for me.

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

When I export it doesnt show the customer but rather NULL Help!

TimeCatcher for BlackBerry

We just fixed the "NULL" issue in your exported timesheet. Re-download TimeCatcher by going through the "get app" workflow and re-install to get the fix.
